About Calcive

Our Story

Calcive was built out of frustration with the state of online financial calculators. The most useful tools were buried inside financial institution websites designed to funnel you toward their products. Free alternatives were either outdated, inaccurate, or plastered with so many ads they were nearly unusable. And nearly all of them were silently collecting data about you — what you were calculating, how much you were planning to borrow, what your income might be — and feeding it to advertising networks.

We decided to build something different: a clean, fast, accurate calculator platform that puts privacy and user experience first. One where the business model doesn't depend on harvesting your financial data. One that works equally well whether you're planning your first mortgage or running complex compound interest scenarios for a long-term investment portfolio.

The result is Calcive. We launched with a core set of finance calculators covering the most common personal finance needs — mortgage, compound interest, retirement, investments, debt payoff — and we're steadily expanding to cover more financial scenarios and eventually other calculation categories including health, math, and developer tools.

How Privacy Works on Calcive

Privacy isn't an afterthought at Calcive — it's a foundational architectural decision. Here's how it works technically:

All Calculations Happen in Your Browser

When you enter numbers into a Calcive calculator and press "Calculate," the computation happens entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. The numbers you type never leave your device. They are not sent to our servers, not logged anywhere, and not stored in any database. This is technically verifiable — you can open your browser's developer tools and inspect the network tab to confirm that no calculation data is transmitted.

No Account, No Profile

We don't ask you to create an account because we don't need one. There's nothing to store, nothing to sync, and no user profile to build. You are not a product. Your financial behavior is not being analyzed, segmented, or sold to advertisers.

Anonymized Analytics Only

To understand which calculators people use most and how to improve the site, we may collect anonymized, aggregated usage data — which pages are visited, in which regions, on which device types. Cookie Transparency

We use a cookie consent system that gives you explicit control over which cookie categories are active. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site functional. Analytics cookies are opt-in. Advertising cookies (for future Google AdSense integration) are opt-in. You can change your preferences at any time.

Dark Mode Without Tracking

Even our dark mode implementation is privacy-conscious: your theme preference is stored in sessionStorage (cleared when you close the browser tab), not in a persistent cookie or on a server. No long-term profile of your preferences is built.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

We take the accuracy of our calculators seriously. We research standard financial formulas and industry conventions before implementing any calculator. We conduct regular reviews of our calculation logic to catch any errors or edge cases.

That said, our calculators produce estimates, not guarantees. Real-world financial outcomes depend on many variables beyond what any online tool can model. We always recommend that users treat our results as a starting point for research and conversations with qualified financial professionals, not as definitive answers. Accessibility and Internationalization

We believe financial tools should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their device, connection speed, disability status, or language. Calcive is built with accessibility in mind: semantic HTML, keyboard navigation support, ARIA labels, and high-contrast design tokens that work in both light and dark mode.

Calcive is being localized into multiple languages including Spanish, German, Portuguese, and French, so that users around the world can access financial calculation tools in their native language. We are prioritizing accuracy in financial terminology during translation rather than simply machine-translating strings.

Business Model and Sustainability

Calcive is and will remain free to use. We plan to support the platform's operating costs through non-intrusive advertising (Google AdSense), where users who consent can see relevant ads. We will never sell user data, introduce paywalls for core calculator features, or allow advertising to compromise the privacy principles described above.

We believe a sustainable, respectful ad-supported model is compatible with genuine privacy protection when implemented transparently — with explicit consent, clear disclosures, and no harvesting of sensitive financial data.
